DLT - TRAI 2020

What is DLT?

Telecom Regulatory Authority of India had released The Telecom Commercial Communications Customer Preference Regulations, 2018 (TCCCPR) on 19th July 2018. This regulation aims to bring transparency, better control, safety and to prevent fraudulent practices in the SMS industry.

What does DLT aim at?

As per the revised guidelines put forth by TRAI, all the enterprises who wish to use Sms services must register themselves with respective Telecom Operators.  Both the business and the bulk sms services providers directly come under the control of TRAI and are accountable for their actions. This regulation is mainly to protect the end customer from spam and frauds. The whole system will be implemented using the block chain technology also called as the DLT (Distributed ledger technology).

Who all are the entities involved in this block chain?

  • Mobile users or customers
  • Business firms who wish to send sms
  • Bulk sms services providers
  • Telecom companies such as Vodafone, idea, Airtel, Mtnl, Bsnl
  • Regulatory authority TRAI
